St Augustine's Church
Otley Road, Bradford, BD3 ODR
St Augustine's is a friendly, welcoming church serving the Otley Road and Undercliffe area of Bradford - though some come from further afield. We are drawn from many different backgrounds. Our main Sunday service is at 10am weekly. We usually celebrate communion and have children's groups, with an all age service of the word on the 3rd Sunday of the month
Please see our youth work page for details of our other children's and youth work - which we share with St Clements, our sister church.
Each week we have a coffee morning - also a Warm Space and a Place of Welcome - running on Tuesdays 10am - 12pm.
We currently have three home groups - two meeting fortnightly on Thursday evenings and one meeting on Tuesday's.
St Augustine's building was redeveloped in a creative and beautiful way over 30 years ago, led by Canon Robin Gamble, when the nave roof of the Victorian building of 1877 needed replacing. It is light and practical - great for conferences, events and parties, especially with its beautiful walled garden in the ruins of the chancel of the original church.
Twenty years ago, the church worked with the wider community to buy the former St Augustine's primary school building next door and found Community Works, led by Canon Denise Poole. This has grown into a substantial project.
We still have a church school link via Westminster CoE Primary Academy where the old school was re-sited. Anna Gulland, our youthworker serves as a governor there. We also welcome schools visits from the other schools in our patch.
